The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced Thursday the establishment of Task Force Falcon Strike, saying it is the first multi-domain, multinational unit dedicated to one-way attack drones operating in the air, on the sea surface, and underwater.

The task force will integrate unmanned systems operated by US personnel and regional partners.

It expands on Task Force Scorpion Strike, the US military’s first dedicated one-way attack drone squadron in the Middle East.

Scorpion Strike quickly reached several operational firsts. It conducted the first launch of an aerial attack drone from a US Navy warship in December 2025 and employed one-way unmanned aerial systems during the war against Iran.

In July 2026, the squadron also used drones in strikes on Iranian port facilities amid tensions over attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

“Task Force Falcon Strike will expand on Scorpion Strike’s success given the tremendous innovation happening among our regional allies and partners,” said Adm. Brad Cooper, CENTCOM commander.
