'Israel's' military chief announced on Wednesday that country forces will continue to operate "proactively" in the Gaza Strip, pledging to "continue to pursue those responsible" from Hamas for the October 7 events.

Visiting troops stationed in Gaza, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir outlined the military's ongoing objectives and strategic posture across the enclave, according to an official military statement.

"In the Gaza Strip, we have struck Hamas, significantly weakened it, and fundamentally changed the security reality," Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir said during the visit.

Zamir emphasized that the 'Israeli' military will maintain its current operational mandate to safeguard civilian populations:

"The 'Israeli' military will continue to operate proactively and according to the principle we established - to remove threats and, in every situation, protect the communities and their residents and safeguard their security," Zamir stated.
