AI-generated video falsely linked to new Iranian attacks on US base in Kuwait

An AI-generated video is once again circulating on social media, falsely claiming to show an Iranian missile strike on a US military base in Kuwait following Iran's latest attacks across Gulf countries.
The footage has been widely shared alongside posts alleging it captures a recent strike on a US installation in Kuwait. However, there is no evidence that the video depicts a real event.
An earlier fact-check by AFP revealed that the footage was generated using artificial intelligence and does not show a genuine attack. AFP identified multiple visual inconsistencies commonly associated with AI-generated content, including distorted shadows, malformed military vehicles, disappearing soldiers, and objects that change shape between frames. The clip also bears the "GEM" logo, a content creation network that states it produces AI-generated visual media.
The same video first circulated in March 2026 after Iran announced missile and drone strikes against US bases in the Gulf. AFP Fact Check debunked the claim at the time, concluding that the footage had been created using artificial intelligence and was being falsely presented as real.
