The 'Israeli' police spokesperson for Arabic media issued an official statement on Wednesday evening, announcing the deployment of emergency forces to Al-Sheikh Anbar Street in the Al-Tur neighborhood of Jerusalem.

The mobilization followed reports of a hazardous environmental and health incident involving dangerous chemical substances inside a building.

The statement confirmed that police units arrived at the scene alongside emergency services, fire departments, and rescue teams.

Approximately 16 casualties have been evacuated from the beauty salon.

Medical personnel confirmed that the victims were transported to local hospitals with varying degrees of injuries, including six individuals currently in critical condition.

Site containment

Field forces are currently conducting thorough sweeps and investigations focused on the following operational tracks:

  • Chemical identification: Specialized firefighting and rescue teams -specifically the hazardous materials (Hazmat) unit- are working to detect and identify the airborne substance to analyze its structural components.
  • Public safety: Ongoing investigations aim to uncover the exact circumstances surrounding the incident. First responders are actively isolating the perimeter to eliminate any secondary environmental risks that could threaten the safety of residents and pedestrians in the surrounding area.
