Jordan evacuates 21 citizens from Venezuela aboard Qatari aid flight following earthquake response operations coordinated with regional partners.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced on Sunday the evacuation of several Jordanian citizens from the Republic of Venezuela aboard a Qatari C-17 cargo aircraft that had previously delivered relief, medical, and food aid from Amman to the Venezuelan capital, Caracas, last Thursday.
The aircraft arrived at Queen Alia International Airport carrying 21 Jordanian citizens, in addition to the accompanying Jordanian military delegation.
The evacuation operation was carried out under the directives of His Majesty the King to ensure the safe return of Jordanian citizens from Venezuela following the recent twin earthquakes that struck the country.
The operation was coordinated between the Jordan Armed Forces–Arab Army and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, in cooperation with relevant authorities in Venezuela and the State of Qatar.
The Foreign Ministry expressed Jordan’s appreciation for Qatar’s efforts and cooperation in facilitating the evacuation and its role in delivering humanitarian aid to Venezuela.
Jordan, in coordination with Qatar, had previously sent two aid aircraft on Thursday and Friday carrying around 52 tonnes of specialized medical supplies for treating injuries and wounds, in addition to essential medicines, consumables, and food supplies, including rice and packaged provisions, to meet urgent needs in affected areas.
As part of the international response to the humanitarian disaster, Jordan also dispatched a search and rescue team from the Public Security Directorate / Civil Defence, consisting of 100 personnel, including three doctors from the Royal Medical Services, along with specialists in rescue operations and technical support, equipped with advanced tools and technologies for disaster response in line with international standards.
The team recently succeeded in rescuing a three-year-old child from under the rubble, six days after the earthquake struck Venezuela.
