  • Arab foreign ministers meet in Amman for consultative talks on regional challenges and Arab cooperation.

Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi said on Monday that a consultative meeting of Arab foreign ministers allowed for “clear and frank” discussions on the major challenges facing the Arab world and the need for enhanced joint Arab action.

Speaking during the 165th ordinary resumed session of the Council of the League of Arab States at ministerial level, hosted in Amman, Safadi said strengthening Arab cooperation remains the key to addressing regional crises and advancing efforts to restore security and stability.

He stressed the importance of continuing efforts related to understandings between the United States and Iran on foundations that address the root causes of past tensions, while safeguarding Arab states, particularly Gulf countries.

Safadi reaffirmed that the Palestinian issue remains the central cause, warning of escalating humanitarian suffering in Gaza and what he described as illegal 'Israeli' measures, including annexation attempts, settlement expansion, rising settler violence, and violations against holy sites in Jerusalem.

He said these developments require unified Arab action to protect the rights of regional populations and achieve a just and lasting peace, emphasizing that peace can only be realized through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, living alongside 'Israel' in security and peace.

The foreign minister also expressed full solidarity with Lebanon amid continued attacks on its territory, calling for adherence to the ceasefire and support for Lebanese efforts to assert sovereignty over all its land.

He added that Jordan supports Syria’s reconstruction process on the basis of preserving its unity and sovereignty, and ensuring its people’s right to live in safety within a fully sovereign state.
