  • Jordan carries out execution of six convicted individuals in terrorism and criminal cases.
  • Cases include attacks on security forces that resulted in deaths of army and public security personnel.
  • Executions conducted after final court rulings and full legal procedures.

Jordan has executed six individuals convicted in separate terrorism and criminal cases linked to attacks that resulted in the deaths of members of the Jordanian Armed Forces and Public Security Directorate, the government announced on Sunday.

Government Communications Minister and official spokesperson Dr. Mohammad Al-Momani said the executions were carried out at dawn on Sunday, June 21, 2026, after the sentences became final and all constitutional and legal procedures were completed.

He added that the rulings were implemented under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor of the State Security Court in accordance with Article 359 of the Criminal Procedure Law.

Al-Momani detailed that two of those executed were convicted in the so-called “Salt Cell” case, which involved the formation of a terrorist group in 2018. The attack resulted in the deaths of multiple security personnel, including officers and soldiers from the Public Security Directorate and the Jordan Armed Forces.

The case was described as one of the most serious security incidents in recent years, targeting security forces during operations in 2018.

Another individual was executed over a terrorism case connected to the killing of a senior officer in 2022.

Two others were convicted in separate drug trafficking cases that escalated into armed confrontations with security forces during enforcement raids, resulting in the deaths of officers in 2014 and 2017.

A sixth convict was also executed in a drug-related case involving resistance to law enforcement during a raid in 2018, which led to the killing of a police officer.

The government stressed that all sentences were issued by the State Security Court after full legal proceedings and were carried out only after exhausting all appeals and procedural safeguards.

Officials framed the executions as part of enforcing the rule of law in cases involving attacks on security personnel and serious criminal activity.
