His Majesty Abdullah II of Jordan on Sunday patronized the ceremony marking Jordan’s 80th Independence Day at Al Husseiniya Palace, where he delivered a nationally televised address celebrating the Kingdom’s history, resilience and future aspirations.

Their Majesties Abdullah II of Jordan and Queen Rania Al Abdullah, alongside His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah, attended the official ceremony commemorating eight decades since Jordan’s independence.

In his speech, the King described independence as a living national value safeguarded by Jordanians across generations.

“Independence remains with us, preserved as a trust, a covenant and a pledge,” the King said.

He praised Jordanians as “an authentic, steadfast and principled people,” emphasizing the Kingdom’s resilience through decades of regional and global challenges.

The King also reflected on Jordan’s deep historical roots, noting that civilizations which flourished on Jordanian soil offered the world lessons in strength, endurance and resilience.

Speaking about Jordanian values and identity, King Abdullah described the Kingdom as “a nation of great stature, generous in giving and Arab in spirit,” adding that Jordanians are known for answering calls for support even before being asked.

The monarch stressed that the 80th anniversary of independence is not only a celebration of history, but also of the capabilities and determination of the Jordanian people.

“Our homeland, which has endured across decades, moves forward with confidence and courage, never hesitant,” he said.

The King reaffirmed Jordan’s consistency in its national positions and policies, saying the Kingdom “knows its direction and knows its choices.”

“What was born from the womb of this noble land can neither be defeated nor broken,” he added.

King Abdullah said Jordanians are moving forward with greater confidence in themselves and a stronger ability to shape a future worthy of Jordan and its people.

Addressing what he described as the “Jordanian family,” the King said there remains a deeply rooted bond between the leadership and the people, “a covenant carried in the hearts, known to God beyond all words.”

The Independence Day celebrations were attended by senior officials, members of the Royal Family, military leaders, and guests as Jordan marked 80 years since its 1946 independence.
