Jordan’s King Abdullah II turned down several attempts by the office of ‘Israeli’ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to arrange a meeting between the two, according to the ‘Israeli’ public broadcaster Kan citing sources.

The report by Kan says that at least one of the attempts was made before the outbreak of the current hostilities with Iran, which started on February 28.

According to Kan, the reason for the denial is that King Abdullah II will not consider a meeting with Netanyahu while Al-Aqsa Mosque is closed.

The report added that Jordan also demanded that ‘Israel’ deal with settler violence, ease restrictions on Muslim worshippers, allow more types of aid into Gaza, give answers on the future of the Palestinian question, and sign a new water agreement.

Jordan was not satisfied with ‘Israel’s’ answers, the report says.

It adds that ‘Israel’ was attempting to signal to the United States that it is maintaining good relations with Jordan, another US ally.
