The American University of Madaba (Jordan), the American University of Beirut (Lebanon), and the American University of Sharjah (UAE) have announced a shift to online “distance learning” systems.

The decisions come as precautionary measures to ensure the safety of students and faculty amid the current conditions in the region, according to the statements.

The American University of Madaba set the transition period from Monday, March 30, until the end of Thursday, April 2.

Meanwhile, the American University of Beirut implemented the system for Monday and Tuesday, with the exception of essential staff.

The American University of Sharjah decided to continue remote learning for all academic activities, including lectures and assessments, until further notice.
