2 hours ago|Jordan’s Energy Minister Saleh Al-Kharabsheh said Sunday the country’s natural gas supply from fields in the Mediterranean has been disrupted due to recent events in the region.
Al-Kharabsheh added that authorities have activated the approved emergency plan.
The country is now using alternative energy sources, including natural gas delivered via a floating storage vessel, diesel, and heavy fuel.
The minister noted that switching from natural gas to diesel costs the National Electric Power Company roughly 1.8 million Jordanian dinars.
He reassured the public that Jordan has sufficient strategic reserves and that there are no technical issues affecting fuel supply.
