‘Israel’ launches intensive airstrikes on southern Lebanon

'Israeli' warplanes carried out a series of intensive airstrikes on Saturday targeting multiple areas in southern Lebanon, raising fears of further field escalation along the northern border.

Media sources reported that two airstrikes hit the Wadi Barghaz area, while another strike targeted the vicinity of the town of Blat.

The raids triggered massive explosions that were heard across nearby border villages.

In a statement, the 'Israeli' army said its forces were conducting a military operation targeting what it described as Hezbollah “infrastructure” in the southern sector of the country.
