  • European Condemnation: Denmark and France have strongly condemned ‘Israel's’ Security Cabinet decisions, labeling the expansion of administrative and legal control over the West Bank as a violation of international law and a "dangerous challenge" to the Oslo Accords.
  • Annexation Concerns: The measures—which include easing land purchases for settlers and transferring planning authority in Areas A and B—are viewed by French and Danish officials as fueling the de facto annexation of the West Bank and systematically undermining the two-state solution.

Both Denmark and France have strongly condemned ‘Israel’s’ recent Security Cabinet decisions to deepen administrative and legal control over the occupied West Bank, warning that the measures violate international law, undermine the Oslo Accords, and threaten the two-state solution.

The ‘Israeli’ moves, approved on February 8–9, 2026, include easing land purchases by ‘Israeli’ Jews through the lifting of historical restrictions and declassification of registries, transferring planning authorities in sensitive areas such as Hebron to ‘Israeli’ control, and extending enforcement powers into Palestinian-administered Areas A and B.

Officials including Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Defense Minister Israel Katz claimed the changes as strengthening ‘Israeli’ oversight and settlement activity in the territory.

Critics, including Palestinian authorities, describe them as a significant step toward de facto annexation.

Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen stated on behalf of Denmark: “Denmark condemns the decision of the Israeli Security Cabinet to expand Israeli control in the West Bank. The decision will harm efforts to advance peace and stability for Israelis and Palestinians and is inconsistent with international law.”

France issued a similarly forceful rebuke through its Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. The full French statement reads:

“France strongly condemns the Israeli security cabinet’s decisions aimed at expanding Israel’s control over the West Bank, particularly Areas A and B. These decisions are contrary to international law and represent a dangerous challenge to the Oslo Accords and the Hebron Protocol.

“These measures, along with the approval of the E1 project and the publication of a tender for that project, are fueling momentum for annexing the West Bank and as such, represent a serious attack on the two-state solution,” the statement adds.
