  • ‘Israel’ troops reportedly raided the town of Al-Habbariya at dawn, abducting a senior Islamic group official.
  • The group holds ‘Israel’ responsible and calls on Lebanon to pressure for the release of detainees.

The Islamic group in Lebanon reported that ‘Israel’ forces infiltrated the town of Al-Habbariya in southern Lebanon early Monday and kidnapped one of its senior officials.

In a statement, the group said the troops entered under cover of darkness around dawn, abducting Attoui Attoui, the group’s leader in Hasbaya and Marjeyoun, from his home after terrorizing and physically assaulting his family.

The group held ‘Israel’ fully responsible for any harm that might come to their abducted official, describing the raid as part of a series of daily violations and brutal attacks by ‘Israel’ on Lebanese territory.

“These Israeli assaults aim to terrorize local residents and force them to abandon their villages and land,” the statement said.

The Islamic group urged the Lebanese government to pressure the parties sponsoring the ceasefire agreement to halt Israeli hostilities and secure the release of their official along with all other Lebanese detainees held by ‘Israel’.

Israeli acknowledgment

The ‘Israel’ military acknowledged the arrest, stating it had detained a prominent member of the Islamic group in the Jabal Rous area of southern Lebanon.

Since the ceasefire between Hezbollah and ‘Israel’ took effect in late November 2024, ‘Israel’ has committed thousands of violations, resulting in hundreds of Lebanese casualties and extensive material damage.

The ceasefire had been intended to end the Israeli aggression launched in October 2023, which escalated into a full-scale war in September 2024, leaving over 4,000 dead and more than 17,000 wounded.

Despite the agreement, ‘Israel’ continues to occupy five hills in southern Lebanon captured during the last war, along with other Lebanese areas it has controlled for decades.
