The World Governments Summit 2026 opened Tuesday in Dubai under the theme “Shaping Future Governments”, drawing the largest international and leadership participation since the forum’s launch.

The summit brings together heads of state and government, senior decision-makers, ministers, global experts, and thought leaders to address fast-moving global shifts and the evolving role of governments in community development and international cooperation.

Unprecedented leadership turnout

Organizers said the 2026 edition features the highest level of leadership attendance to date. More than 60 heads of state and government and their deputies are taking part, alongside over 500 ministers and representatives from more than 150 governments.

In total, the summit convenes over 6,250 decision-makers and thinkers from around the world, aiming to develop shared strategies to strengthen governance and cross-border cooperation.

Agenda shaped by global change

The summit’s agenda reflects rapid developments across critical sectors, from technology and the economy to sustainability and public services. Through discussions, panels, and high-level meetings, participants are expected to outline practical and forward-looking solutions to mounting global challenges.

The program includes more than 445 sessions and over 450 global speakers, among them heads of state, ministers, policy experts, and leading thinkers.

Business, science, and global institutions

More than 700 chief executive officers of major corporations are participating, alongside 87 laureates of prestigious international scientific awards, including the Nobel Prize. Over 80 international and regional organizations, as well as global and academic institutions, are also represented.

This year’s extended agenda features 25 global forums and more than 45 ministerial and high-level meetings.

Reports, surveys, and global recognition

During the summit, 36 strategic reports will be issued in cooperation with international knowledge partners. Organizers will also launch the third edition of the Global Ministers Survey, providing insight into emerging policy priorities worldwide.

Honors presented at the summit include the Best Minister Award, the Most Reformed Government Global Award, the Dubai International Best Practices Award for Sustainable Development, and the Global Teacher Prize.

Global spotlight on Dubai

The summit is expected to attract extensive media attention, with more than 840 international, regional, and local journalists in attendance, along with 44 media partners.

As discussions continue throughout the week, the World Governments Summit 2026 positions itself as a central platform for shaping how governments respond to global challenges and opportunities in the years ahead.
