Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya bint Al Hassan, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Baccalaureate School – Amman, attended the International Baccalaureate (IB) Day – Jordan 2026, organized by the school under the theme “Excellence in Action: Driving Impactful Learning.”
The event was attended by Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Azmi Mahafzah, Mr. Heif Benyan, Director of Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Canada at the International Baccalaureate Organization, and several local and international educational leaders.
Princess Sumaya opened the ceremony with a speech emphasizing that the pursuit of knowledge forms the foundation of both human and societal development. She expressed pride in the Baccalaureate School – Amman, founded by His Royal Highness Prince Al Hassan bin Talal in 1981 as the first IB school in Jordan and the region. She highlighted that true international education respects and strengthens national identity rather than replacing it.
The event saw participation from educational leaders representing 25 schools across the Kingdom, who were praised for fostering professional collaboration and knowledge exchange to benefit students across all schools.
Attendees also watched a student presentation titled “Ana Min Hon” Arabic for "I am from here," reflecting students’ national identity in line with celebrations of His Majesty King Abdullah II’s birthday. The performance emphasized that identity and belonging are nurtured through education and action, not words alone.
The ceremony concluded with organizers expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the event’s success, from planning and support teams to sponsors, noting that the true impact lies in translating ideas discussed into practical educational benefits for students.
