  • Bahrain receives US invitation to join Gaza Peace Council.
  • Trump’s plan advances to second phase amid ongoing 'Israeli' destruction in Gaza.

Bahrain confirmed Saturday that it has received an invitation from the United States to join the newly formed Gaza Peace Council.

The Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported that Manama expressed appreciation for US President Donald Trump’s efforts “to achieve a just and lasting peace in the region”.

Council Formation and Regional Invitations

The announcement follows a White House statement Friday unveiling members of the so-called Gaza Peace Council, alongside the creation of a Gaza Executive Council. These bodies are intended to oversee security and reconstruction as part of the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

Earlier Saturday, Burhaneddin Duran, head of communications at the Turkish presidency, noted that Trump invited President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to serve as a founding member of the council. Similarly, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati confirmed that President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi was invited to participate.

Phase Two of Gaza Agreement

The White House move comes after Trump announced Thursday the launch of the second phase of his twenty-point plan aimed at ending the war in Gaza. The plan is based on UN Security Council Resolution 2803, adopted November 17, 2025, which allows international civilian and security presence in Gaza through December 31, 2027, unless the Security Council decides otherwise.

Humanitarian Toll

The two-year 'Israeli' war on Gaza has left more than 71,000 Palestinians dead and over 171,000 wounded, the majority women and children. Nearly 90 percent of civilian infrastructure has been destroyed, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.

Bahrain’s participation in the council signals growing regional engagement in efforts to manage Gaza’s reconstruction and security, though the scale of Israeli destruction presents significant challenges to any peace initiatives.
