The US Central Command announced Saturday that American forces killed an Daesh leader linked to an ambush carried out by Daesh against US personnel in Syria last month.
Central Command identified the operative as Bilal Al-Jasim, saying he had a “direct connection” to an Daesh fighter who killed and injured American and Syrian personnel on December 13 in Palmyra, Syria.

Admiral Brad Cooper, head of Central Command, said in a statement, “Killing one of the terrorists responsible for the deaths of three Americans demonstrates our determination to pursue those who attack our forces.”

Since the December 13 attack, US forces have conducted strikes on Syria, targeting over 100 Daesh positions, the military said.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth posted on X the Central Command statement, adding, “We will never forget, and we will never back down.”
