Eleven Jordanian Umrah pilgrims were injured early Wednesday morning when their bus crashed while traveling to holy sites in Saudi Arabia, officials confirmed.
Sinan al-Majali, spokesperson for the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, told Roya that the accident occurred at dawn just outside the city of Sakaka.
The bus was transporting 34 Jordanians at the time of the incident.
Medical Status of the Injured
According to reports provided by the trip’s religious guide, the crash resulted in varying degrees of injury among the passengers. Al-Majali detailed the health status of the 11 victims currently receiving medical attention:
- Two Moderate Cases: Two individuals sustained various fractures and are undergoing necessary medical procedures.
- Nine Minor Cases: Nine passengers were reported to be in "good" condition, having sustained only minor injuries in the collision.
The remaining 23 passengers were unharmed.
Saudi emergency services arrived at the scene shortly after the crash to provide first aid and transport the injured to nearby hospitals.
In coordination with the ministry, the transport company immediately dispatched a replacement bus to the site.
This measure allowed the uninjured passengers, as well as those cleared by medical staff for discharge, to proceed with their itinerary toward Mecca and Medina to perform their religious rites as planned.
