Jordan army thwarts drug smuggling attempt from border

The Eastern Military Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) early Wednesday morning thwarted two attempts to smuggle large quantities of narcotics across the border using “advanced technology,” according to a statement by the JAF.

Border guard units, operating in coordination with various security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, detected the shipments being transported via "guided balloons" equipped with electronic steering devices.

The intercepted materials have been handed over to the relevant authorities for inventory and further legal processing.
