Hamas’ armed wing in Gaza, Al-Qassam Brigades, said it will deliver a speech at 4 PM Gaza time.
The announcement does not indicate what the topic of the address will be.
Several unofficial but Hamas-affiliated Telegram channels have released material -graphics and videos- on Hamas military spokesperson Abu Obaida since yesterday, putting forward the possibility that the announcement could be related to him.
Abu Obaida, Hamas long-time spokesperson, was targeted by an ‘Israeli’ strike late August.
‘Israel’ said the strike killed Abu Obaida. Hamas only issued one statement about a month later urging to not “disseminate rumours” and only await official statements.
The announcement also comes as ‘Israel’ awaits return of the body of captive Sgt. Ran Gvili.
To date, Hamas returned 27 out of the 28 bodies agreed upon in the ceasefire deal in October.
