  • 'Israel' holds 6,000 Gaza aid trucks as sharp drop in Arab support threatens UNRWA operations

UNRWA media adviser Adnan Abu Hasna revealed alarming details about the agency’s humanitarian and operational challenges amid the ongoing war and 'Israeli' blockade, highlighting unprecedented obstacles in Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem.

Speaking on Roya TV’s Seven O’Clock News program, Abu Hasna provided updated figures on UNRWA’s efforts to sustain services under extreme conditions.

Continuing services despite destruction

Despite massive challenges, UNRWA remains the sole stable provider of essential services in Gaza, relying on a workforce of 12,000 staff. In education, the agency has successfully reintegrated 300,000 children into schools, seen as a critical lifeline under the current circumstances.

Healthcare services have expanded with eight main clinics across Gaza and 32 fixed medical points, supported by 108 mobile teams, treating approximately 16,000 patients daily. Environmental and public services continue as well, with thousands of tons of solid waste collected weekly, and hundreds of thousands receiving clean drinking water and psychosocial support.

Blocked aid fuels humanitarian disaster

Abu Hasna revealed that 'Israel' is preventing the entry of food and relief supplies worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Some 6,000 UNRWA trucks, currently stored in Jordan and Egypt, hold enough food to sustain Gaza for three months, along with tents for 1.3 million Palestinians.

He warned that the continued blockade is exacerbating the crisis in refugee camps, where rain and sewage damage makes living conditions dire.

Allowing these shipments into Gaza, he said, could dramatically improve the lives of the population.

This warning underscores the growing urgency of international action as UNRWA struggles to meet the basic needs of Palestinians amid conflict and blockade.
