Jordan public security issues safety tips for drivers during rainy weather

• Jordan’s Public Security Directorate urges drivers to slow down, stay alert, and ensure clear visibility during rainy conditions.

The Media and Community Policing Department at the Public Security Directorate has issued a set of important tips and guidelines for drivers, aiming to enhance road safety and reduce traffic accidents during rainfall.

The Directorate began its advice by urging motorists to drive with caution, stressing the importance of reducing speed in line with road conditions and avoiding any distractions that may affect concentration. Drivers were also advised to keep a firm grip on the steering wheel with both hands to maintain full control of the vehicle.

On visibility, the Directorate emphasized the need to turn on vehicle lights, which helps drivers see clearly and allows other road users to notice the vehicle more easily. It also highlighted the importance of ensuring clear vision by checking that windshield wipers are functioning properly and using the heating system to remove fog from inside the car.

The Public Security Directorate further warned of the risks of skidding on wet roads, calling on drivers to turn carefully, as the front or rear of the vehicle may slip on slippery surfaces. The guidelines concluded with a reminder to pay close attention to traffic signals, enabling drivers to make safer decisions under challenging conditions and maintain better control of their vehicles.
