Jordan has officially joined the United States Global Entry Programme, granting eligible travelers access to expedited arrival procedures at US airports.
The announcement was made at an event hosted by the Prime Ministry, attended by Minister of Interior Mazen Faraya and US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem.
- Faster entry for approved travelers -
The Ministry of Interior said the move allows approved Jordanian citizens to use dedicated lanes, face shorter wait times, and complete streamlined screening upon arrival in the United States.
Applicants must hold a valid US visa or permanent residency and apply through the US Trusted Traveler Program website. The process includes an online application followed by a personal interview at designated locations. Approved memberships are valid for five years.
The Global Entry Programme is managed by US Customs and Border Protection as part of the Trusted Traveler Programme. The Ministry of Interior said further details on eligibility and application steps are available on its official website.
- Trade facilitation agreement signed -
On the sidelines of the event, Minister of Finance Abdul Hakim Shibli and Secretary Noem signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at easing trade flows between Jordan and the United States.
The agreement builds on existing legislation and the Mutual Customs Assistance Agreement signed in 2004. It focuses on strengthening supply chain security, protecting public safety, and enhancing the exchange and analysis of shipping and transport data to support national and economic security.
- Strategic partnership and trade ties -
The event was attended by Royal Jordanian Airlines Chairman and CEO Samer Majali, Hikma Pharmaceuticals Chairman Saeed Darwazeh, Customs Department Director General Major General Ahmed Akalik, Jordanian Ambassador to the United States Dina Kawar, and US Ambassador to Jordan Jim Holtsnider.
The United States remains one of Jordan’s most important trading partners and the largest destination for Jordanian exports, which totaled about USD 3.1 billion in 2024. Officials said talks also covered expanding cooperation across several sectors in ways that benefit both countries.
