  • ‘Israel’ carries out airstrikes and shelling across Gaza despite the ceasefire agreement.
  • France urges the United States to brief European ministers on Trump’s Gaza plan.

Israeli Occupation Forces launched a series of airstrikes and artillery attacks early Monday across multiple areas of Gaza, including zones under its control according to the ceasefire agreement, as France called for European officials to be briefed on a proposed United States plan for Gaza.

Shelling across southern and northern Gaza

In a separate incident, ‘Israeli’ artillery shelled eastern areas of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, also located within occupation-controlled zones.

Further north, ‘Israeli’ helicopters opened fire east of Jabalia, while army vehicles used heavy machine guns east of Gaza City, residents said.

The Gaza Civil Defense said it had begun searching for the bodies of martyrs trapped under the rubble of destroyed homes in Gaza City. It added that crews lack heavy machinery and are relying on basic tools, urging guarantors of the ceasefire agreement to pressure for the entry of equipment needed to recover the bodies.

Continued ceasefire violations

‘Israel’ has continued to violate the ceasefire agreement it signed with Hamas, resulting since October in the martyrdom of at least 391 Palestinians and the injury of 1,063 others, according to local authorities.

The agreement ended a genocidal campaign launched by ‘Israel’ on October 8, 2023, which lasted nearly two years and left more than 70,000 martyrs and over 171,000 wounded across Gaza.

French proposal on Gaza plan

On the political front, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said Monday that he proposed informing European Union foreign ministers about US President Donald Trump’s plan for Gaza.

Speaking to reporters in Brussels, Barrot said he suggested that EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas invites US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to brief EU foreign ministers on the latest developments related to the implementation of Trump’s Gaza peace plan.

The proposal comes amid growing European concern over the ongoing escalation in Gaza and repeated ‘Israeli’ violations of ceasefire commitments, as diplomatic efforts to shape the next phase of the ceasefire continue.
