Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa sent a message of condolences to US President Donald Trump on Sunday following a deadly attack on American forces in central Syria.

In a statement, the Syrian presidency said al-Sharaa sent “a cable of condolences to US President Donald Trump regarding the killing of American soldiers in Homs province,” expressing Syria’s “solidarity with the victims’ families.”

The message came a day after an attack near Palmyra in Homs province that Washington attributed to Daesh. The assault killed two US soldiers and a civilian interpreter.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Interior Ministry announced Sunday that a “qualitative and decisive” security operation in Palmyra resulted in the arrest of five suspects following a terrorist attack on Saturday.

The operation was conducted in full coordination with the Syrian General Intelligence Directorate and international coalition forces, based on precise prior intelligence. Those arrested are suspected of planning, executing, or facilitating the attack and have been placed under investigation.
