Heavy rains have flooded thousands of refugee tents across Gaza, coinciding with the arrival of a polar storm bringing severe weather to the region.
The downpour has worsened the living conditions for hundreds of thousands of Palestinian displaced people who have been living in makeshift tents for more than two years since the 'Israeli' genocide began on the strip on Oct 7, 2023
Many shelter areas turned into pools of water, submerging dozens of tents housing entire families. Local sources reported that flooding began as the storm hit Gaza, creating extremely harsh humanitarian conditions.
The flooding comes on the 61st day since the start of the ceasefire in Gaza.
Meanwhile, 'Israeli' forces have reportedly violated the truce by demolishing buildings in Gaza City and Beit Lahia, along with air and artillery strikes on Rafah and Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.
The situation underscores the vulnerability of displaced populations in Gaza as extreme weather events compound the already dire humanitarian crisis.
