‘Israel’ on Tuesday claimed that a delay by Palestinian group Islamic Jihad in handing over a captive body it said it had found in Gaza was a "violation" of the ceasefire.

The armed wing of Islamic Jihad said it had located on Monday the body of a captive during search operations in the central Gaza Strip.

"In light of the Islamic Jihad's announcement regarding the location of findings related to a deceased hostage, Israel views with severity the delay in their immediate transfer," the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement.

"This constitutes a further violation of the agreement. Israel demands the immediate return of the three deceased hostages still being held in the Gaza Strip," it further claimed.

Hamas and Islamic Jihad later said they would hand over the remains the captive at 1400 GMT on Tuesday

"The al-Quds Brigades and the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades will hand over the body of an Israeli captive found in the central Gaza Strip at 4:00 pm Gaza time (1400 GMT)," the groups said in a joint statement, referring to their armed wings.
