- Conditions improve gradually by nighttime.
Jordan is set for a day of unsettled weather on Tuesday, with cooler-than-usual conditions and skies shifting between partly cloudy and overcast. Periodic showers are expected to develop mainly over the western parts of the country, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).
Forecasters noted that some rainfall could intensify in certain locations, heightening the possibility of flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, including the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea basin. Thunderstorms and pockets of hail may also occur as the system moves through.
Rainfall is likely to expand gradually into additional regions throughout the day, although forecasters say chances will taper off later in the evening and overnight as the weather begins to stabilize. Northwesterly winds will prevail, occasionally strengthening enough to kick up dust.
The JMD cautioned the public about "reduced visibility this morning due to fog over high mountain areas and parts of the plains," adding that there remains a risk of flash flooding "especially in western regions," along with blowing dust in desert areas and slippery road surfaces where rain has fallen.
More stable, slightly cool weather is anticipated on Wednesday, particularly in elevated areas. Meanwhile, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba are expected to experience milder conditions with patches of low cloud and light easterly winds.
A modest warming trend is forecast on Thursday, bringing pleasant weather to much of the country and mild conditions around the valley areas, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. High cloud cover may drift in at times, accompanied by active southeasterly winds capable of stirring dust in desert zones. A slight further rise in temperatures is expected on Friday with similar mild and pleasant conditions.
For Tuesday, temperatures will range between 18°C and 8°C in East Amman and 16°C to 6°C in West Amman. The northern highlands are forecast at 15°C to 5°C, while the Sharah range will hover around 14°C to 5°C.
Desert areas can expect temperatures from 20°C to 7°C, and the plains from 19°C to 8°C. In the Jordan Valley, readings will reach 26°C to 14°C in the north and 28°C to 17°C in the south. The Dead Sea will see 26°C to 18°C, while Aqaba will record 28°C to 17°C.
