Iran’s Revolutionary Guards announced on Tuesday that they had dismantled what they described as an intelligence network operating inside the country on behalf of both US and 'Israeli' agencies.

"An anti-security network led by the US and Israeli intelligence services was identified inside the country and dismantled after several stages of observation, surveillance, and other intelligence measures," the IRGC’s intelligence organization said in a statement broadcast on state television.

According to the Guards, the coordinated operation was carried out “in a number of provinces,” though no information was given about when it took place or how many individuals were detained.

The announcement comes months after an open conflict erupted between Iran and 'Israel', when 'Israel' launched a large-scale air assault in June that, according to Iranian officials, killed more than a thousand people, including senior military commanders and nuclear scientists.

Tehran responded with missile and drone strikes against 'Israel', while the United States briefly joined the fighting by targeting Iranian nuclear facilities. A ceasefire between the two sides has been in place since June 24.

In the wake of the war, Iran’s parliament passed new legislation imposing harsher punishments on individuals convicted of espionage for 'Israel' or the US In recent weeks, authorities have carried out multiple executions of people found guilty of spying for 'Israel'.
