France and Germany on Wednesday called for an immediate return to the ceasefire in Gaza amid renewed escalation and deadly ‘Israeli’ strikes on the besieged Strip.

The French government urged that the ceasefire be restored “as soon as possible,” warning that continued fighting would only deepen the humanitarian crisis.

Meanwhile, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul called on ‘Israel’ to exercise “military restraint to avoid new suffering in Gaza,” following reports that ‘Israel’ had resumed operations after a deadly attack that killed one of its soldiers.

“The latest reports of renewed fighting deeply concern me,” Wadephul said in a statement issued before his trip to Jordan, Lebanon, and Bahrain.

According to Gaza’s Civil Defense, the latest round of ‘Israeli’ strikes left more than 100 people dead in the already devastated enclave.
