Hamas issues statement following 'Israeli' strikes on Gaza during ceasefire

Hamas has issued a strong statement condemning what it described as a “treacherous escalation” by 'Israel' against civilians in Gaza, accusing Tel Aviv of violating the recently brokered ceasefire agreement.

Hamas asserted that the 'Israeli' government is attempting to undermine the ceasefire and impose new realities by force, while criticizing the United States for providing political cover to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government.

“The positions of the US administration, biased in favor of the occupation, constitute a direct partnership in shedding the blood of our children and women and a direct encouragement for the continuation of the aggression,” the statement read.

The movement stressed that 'Israel' bears full responsibility for the escalation and its consequences, both on the ground and politically. Hamas further warned that its factions remain committed to the ceasefire agreement and will not allow 'Israel' to impose “new realities under fire.”

“The world must recognize that the blood of our children and women is not cheap,” the statement added.

Hamas also called on mediators and guarantors of the ceasefire to take urgent action, pressuring 'Israel' to halt its attacks and fully comply with the terms of the agreement.
