A Turkish television series has sparked public outrage and calls for a boycott after a scene was perceived as containing imagery related to the Palestinian flag.

The controversy centers on a moment in the drama series, where an actress is shown throwing away the clothes of another character while declaring that she should “leave this place.” Viewers noticed that the colors of the clothes, red, green, black, and white, resembled those of the Palestinian flag, which many said could not have been a coincidence.

The scene quickly spread across social media platforms, with users accusing the show’s producers of intentional symbolism and insensitivity toward the Palestinian cause.

The backlash intensified after cast members were seen promoting a brand reportedly listed among companies boycotted by the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) movement.

Actor Mehmet Yaşa, one of the series’ cast members, announced his decision to quit the production following the incident. “I cannot allow myself to continue working on a project like this ... Palestine is my red line" said in a statement shared on social media.

The show’s producers have not publicly commented on the controversy.

Meanwhile, the boycott campaign continues to trend on Turkish social media, with many users demanding accountability from the network and production company.
