UNIFIL reports 'Israeli' drone dropped bomb near patrol in southern Lebanon
The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said on Sunday that an 'Israeli' drone dropped a bomb near one of its patrols in the southern town of Kfarkila, Lebanon.
The incident caused no injuries or damage to UN personnel or equipment.
In a statement, UNIFIL said the 'Israeli' drone approached a UN patrol near Kfarkila and released a bomb, after which an 'Israeli' tank reportedly fired toward the peacekeeping forces.
UNIFIL condemned the actions, describing them as a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and Lebanon’s sovereignty.
The statement added that the attacks “show disregard for the safety and security of UN peacekeepers.”
The UN mission has called for restraint and emphasized the need to respect the safety and mandate of its personnel operating in southern Lebanon.
