Delegations Discuss Second Phase of Cease-Fire
The source indicated that the Hamas delegation, led by Khalil al-Hayya, and the Fatah delegation, led by Palestinian Deputy President Hussein al-Sheikh and Intelligence Chief Majid Faraj, discussed "the current situation and matters related to the files of the second phase of the cease-fire proposal in Gaza."
The source confirmed that the two sides "agreed to continue meetings during the coming period and work on arranging the Palestinian internal house in the face of the challenges imposed by the Israeli government."
Earlier, Egypt's intelligence-affiliated Al-Qahera News channel reported that the two delegations were "discussing matters related to the national scene generally and arrangements for the post-war phase in the Gaza Strip."
Egyptian Official Meets with Other Factions
On the sidelines of the meeting between Hamas and Fatah, Egyptian General Intelligence Chief Major General Hassan Rashad held a series of meetings with representatives of several other Palestinian factions, including the Islamic Jihad Movement, the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, according to the channel.
Al-Qahera News pointed out that these meetings come within the framework of "Egyptian efforts being exerted to achieve Palestinian national consensus regarding the implementation of U.S. President [Donald Trump's] cease-fire plan in Gaza."
