University of Jordan vows zero tolerance after campus brawl
The University of Jordan (UJ) said Saturday, that it has referred a group of students to its disciplinary council after confirming their involvement in “recent disturbances that disrupted public order on campus,” according to a statement.
The North Amman Prosecutor General ordered to detain 50 people, including students and non-students, for one week pending investigation into the massive brawl on the university’s campus that resulted in seven injuries.

The university stressed that it "will not be lenient" and will impose the "severest penalties" against anyone who compromises the security and safety of the university community, according to the statement.
North Amman’s Prosecutor General charged the 50 detained individuals with offenses including rioting causing damage, destruction of university property, carrying sharp objects, unlawful assembly, and assault.
Details of the Incident
According to a statement by the police, the brawl began after an exchange of insults between a group of students, quickly escalating into physical altercations and the use of sharp objects. University security intervened immediately to break up the fight.
After the incident, security reinforcements were deployed around the university's perimeter.
The Public Security Directorate's (PSD) spokesperson confirmed that seven people were injured and transferred to the hospital, where their condition was described as good.
Police arrested 42 individuals during the brawl on campus and arrested others, including non-students, after the conflict continued outside the university gates.
