Conscience vessel activist recounts brutal treatment in 'Israeli' custody
A Jewish photojournalist who was taken from the aid vessel “Conscience” has shared harrowing details of her treatment while in 'Israeli' custody, describing brutal beatings, threats, and assault.
“I was hung from the metal shackles on my wrists and ankles and beaten on my stomach, back, face, ear, and skull by a group of Israeli men and women guards, one of whom sat on my neck and face, blocking my airways,” said Noa Avishag Schnall in her testimony.
Schnall recounted that detainees were subjected to violent abuse throughout the night. “During the evening the men were tormented by guards with attack dogs and guns. The women were threatened with pepper spray. Our cell was awoken with threats of rape,” she said.
According to her account, detainees were stripped, assaulted, and threatened while restrained. She says she personally endured physical abuse and suffocation.
The group had been sailing toward Gaza carrying baby formula and humanitarian aid when the vessel was intercepted by 'Israeli' forces. The mission, according to organizers, aimed to provide essential supplies to civilians under blockade.
