On Thursday evening, the 'Israeli' army carried out nine airstrikes on towns in southern and eastern Lebanon, marking a clear escalation of tensions and violations of the ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah.

The strikes targeted Nabatieh, Sidon, Marjeyoun, Bint Jbeil in the south, and Baalbek in the east, according to the Lebanese News Agency. In Nabatieh, 'Israeli' jets hit the area between Roumine and Houmine, as well as the northern outskirts of Upper Nabatieh.

In Sidon, two airstrikes struck the town of Benafoul, while another targeted Kharbet Dweir between Sarafand and Bissariyeh. An 'Israeli' drone also hit the road connecting Sharqiya and Kouthriyet Al-Siyad, leaving a gap in the route.

In Marjeyoun, a drone targeted the town of Bleda during olive harvesting, and another dropped an incendiary bomb on Dirantar in Bint Jbeil. The air force also struck the outskirts of Shmistar in Baalbek.

No information on casualties has been reported. 'Israel' claimed the strikes targeted “underground Hezbollah infrastructure used to store weapons in the Bekaa and southern Lebanon.”

The attacks come shortly after Lebanese President Joseph Aoun warned against attempts to extend the Gaza conflict to Lebanon. The escalation occurs amid ongoing regional tensions two years after the 'Israeli' war on Gaza, which left tens of thousands of Palestinians dead or injured.

Despite the ceasefire agreement signed in November 2024, 'Israel' reportedly violated the truce over 4,500 times last year, resulting in hundreds of casualties. Israel continues to occupy five Lebanese hills captured during the last war, in addition to other long-held territories, in violation of existing agreements with Lebanon.
