  • Prison Service has transferred Palestinian political prisoners to designated release points.

'Israeli' authorities have begun logistical preparations for the first phase of a prisoner exchange deal, with reports indicating that the return of detainees from Gaza could commence as early as Sunday. The process coincides with the Prison Service completing the transfer of Palestinian political prisoners slated for release to designated points for their departure.

According to Hebrew media, the authorities are moving forward on two parallel tracks. Security sources cited by the Israeli Broadcasting Authority (IBA) stated that, although the operation is officially scheduled for Monday, it could potentially begin a day earlier, on Sunday.

Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the Prison Authority has already finalized moving the Palestinian detainees included in the agreement to the facilities from which they will be released.

The preparations mark a significant step in implementing the long-anticipated exchange, which is expected to bring some relief to families on both sides, though details about the number of detainees and the broader terms of the deal remain closely guarded by officials.

Authorities are coordinating carefully to ensure a smooth process, reflecting the sensitive and high-stakes nature of the operation.
