  • Trump snubbed as 2025 Nobel Peace Prize goes to Venezuelan opposition leader.
  • Despite his campaigns and Netanyahu’s backing, Trump misses out on the award.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee today awarded the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize to Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, effectively passing over US President Donald Trump despite his highly publicized campaign for the accolade.

The Committee honored Machado "for her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy."

The announcement ends months of speculation, much of it fueled by President Trump's repeated claims that he deserved the prize for brokering diplomatic deals, including the recent ‘Israel’-Hamas ceasefire.

'Israeli' Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday publicly called for US President Donald Trump to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, just hours after Trump announced the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

In a brief post on the official Prime Minister’s Office X (formerly Twitter) account, Netanyahu wrote: “Give Donald Trump the Nobel Peace Prize. He deserves it.”

Netanyahu also posted an AI-generated image of Trump with a Nobel Peace Prize medal around his neck.

Trump had previously said it would be an "insult" to the United States if he doesn't receive the prize, claiming he resolved multiple wars.

"Will you get the Nobel Prize? Absolutely not. They'll give it to some guy that didn't do a damn thing," Trump said during a speech before hundreds of top US military officers.
