Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Thursday welcomed US President Donald Trump’s announcement of a comprehensive agreement to end the offensive in Gaza, saying he hopes it would pave the way toward lasting peace and stability.
Abbas added that the State of Palestine is ready to work with all mediators and partners to ensure the implementation of the deal, releasing captives and Palestinian detainees.

He added that sovereignty over the Gaza Strip belongs solely to the State of Palestine.
The agreement includes a ceasefire, the withdrawal of ‘Israeli’ forces from Gaza, the delivery of humanitarian aid, and a captive-detainee exchange arrangement.
Abbas said he hopes the accord would lead towards a lasting political solution, in which the ‘Israeli’ occupation ends with the establishment of a Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The president praised diplomatic efforts by the USA, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, pushing Hamas and ‘Israel’ to accept the first phase of Trump’s plan.
Abbas urged all parties to immediately comply with the deal, ensure the release of captives and detainees, guarantee UN-supervised humanitarian access, and launch reconstruction efforts without displacing residents.
He reiterated that Gaza must be administered through unified Palestinian institutions and security forces operating under a single legal framework, with Arab and international backing.
