Trump says “likely” to visit ‘Israel’ in coming days: Axios
US President Donald Trump said he is "likely" to travel to ‘Israel’ in the coming days to address the Knesset, following the announcement of a peace deal ending the war on Gaza.
The agreement, revealed on Wednesday, fulfills a major campaign promise and stands as the most significant diplomatic success of Trump's second term.
Under the first phase of the deal, the remaining 20 ‘Israeli’ captives believed to be alive will be released by Monday, aligning with Trump's potential visit.
It also involves a partial withdrawal of ‘Israeli’ forces from Gaza and the freeing of hundreds of Palestinian detainees.
Trump, in a phone call with Axios’ Barak Ravid, described the accord as "a great day for Israel and for the world."
In the call with ‘Israeli’ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he told Axios: "He is so happy. He should be. It is a great achievement. The whole world has come together to reach this deal, including countries that were enemies."
The White House stated Trump could depart after a physical exam on Friday.
Regarding Netanyahu’s invitation to give a speech at the Knesset, Trump said, "I will definitely do that if they want me to."
