  • Gaza civil defence reported multiple strikes after ceasefire announcement.
  • Mohammed Al-Mughayyir said explosions were concentrated in northern Gaza.
  • He described “a series of intense airstrikes” on Gaza City.

The civil defense in Gaza said on Thursday that multiple airstrikes hit the territory shortly after a ceasefire agreement was announced between Hamas and 'Israel'.

Mohammed Al-Mughayyir, an official with the agency, said, “Since the announcement last night of an agreement on a proposed ceasefire framework in Gaza, several explosions have been reported, particularly in areas of northern Gaza,” adding that the city was targeted by “a series of intense airstrikes.”

The reported strikes came despite the ceasefire announcement, raising concerns over whether the truce will hold on the ground.

Earlier this week, Hamas agreed to a ceasefire deal in Gaza.

The agreement is expected to be officially signed on Thursday in Egypt, signaling a potential end to the recent hostilities in the region, according to the sources.

At the same time, a note was passed by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to President Donald Trump at the White House reportedly emphasized that a Middle East deal was “very close” and urged Trump to approve a Truth Social post so he could announce the agreement first, according to the Associated Press.

The note, marked at the top with the words “very close,” prompted Trump to remark: “I just received a note from Rubio saying we are close to a deal in the Middle East. They need me in another room shortly.”
