Gaza agreement includes release of captives, deatinees, and humanitarian aid, says Qatari FM

Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majid Al-Ansari announced that mediators reached an agreement early Thursday covering all provisions and implementation mechanisms for the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire.

Al-Ansari told X (formerly Twitter) that the agreement aims to halt the war, secure the release of 'Israeli' captives and Palestinian detainees, and allow humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. He noted that full details of the agreement will be announced later.

US President Donald Trump confirmed that 'Israel' and Hamas have signed off on the first phase of his peace plan, stating that all captives will be released soon and 'Israeli' forces will withdraw to an agreed-upon line as the first step toward a “strong and lasting peace.”

Speaking on Truth Social, Trump emphasized that all parties will be treated fairly, calling the day “great for the Arab and Muslim world, Israel, and the United States.” He also thanked mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey for their role in what he described as a “historic and unprecedented event.”
