'Israeli' Chief of Staff: Military actions in Gaza have no political objective
In a revelation that highlights deep divisions within the leadership of the Israeli Occupation, Channel 13 quoted informed sources as saying that Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir issued sharp and unprecedented criticism of the political leadership.
Zamir warned that military operations in Gaza are being carried out “without a clear political objective” and are worsening the situation of captives and putting their lives at risk.
- “No clear political objective” -
The most striking part of Zamir’s warning, according to the report, was his assertion that “soldiers are returning to the same areas in Gaza” repeatedly. This suggests that the army is fighting in places it had previously seized and then withdrawn from, reflecting the absence of a coherent political strategy for the aftermath of military operations, and turning them into a costly war of attrition with no lasting results.
- “Operations put captives’ lives at risk” -
Another alarming point in Zamir’s message was that the current military approach does not serve the cause of freeing captives. On the contrary, it increases the danger to them.
According to the source, the army chief stressed that “operations in Gaza put the hostages’ lives at risk and their situation is deteriorating,” pointing out that military pressure may push Palestinian factions to harm them, or could result in their deaths during bombardments and clashes.
