Turkish aircraft reportedly patrols skies above Gaza-bound flotilla
A Turkish aircraft has been reported flying over the Sumud flotilla for a second consecutive day, according to the Israel Broadcasting Authority (IBA).
The flotilla, which includes international activists, is attempting to reach the Gaza Strip to challenge 'Israel’s' longstanding naval blockade.
The sustained Turkish aerial monitoring is being interpreted as a direct political and military message from Ankara. Analysts warn that it could complicate the situation if the 'Israeli' navy attempts to intercept the flotilla, potentially preventing it from reaching Gaza’s coast.
- Humanitarian mission at sea -
The flotilla, consisting of several ships carrying humanitarian aid and hundreds of activists from multiple countries, departed earlier this week from a European port.
Organizers say the mission aims to break the 'Israeli' blockade, highlight the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and draw global attention to the plight of residents in the enclave.
- 'Israeli' security on high alert -
'Israeli' security and military forces are closely monitoring the flotilla’s movements. While no official response has been announced, Israel has consistently rejected any attempts to breach its naval blockade. Observers note that the situation raises concerns of a repeat of the 2010 Mavi Marmara incident, which ended in a deadly confrontation between activists and 'Israeli' forces.
