Smotrich says talking to US about “real estate bonanza” Gaza to divide it up
‘Israeli’ Finance Bezalel Smotrich said Wednesday that the Gaza Strip is a “real estate bonanza” that “pays for itself”.
Smotrich also said he “already started negotiations with the Americans” on how to divide it after the war.
“We have poured a lot of money into this war. We have to see how we are dividing up the land in percentages,” Smotrich says at a real estate conference in Tel Aviv.
“The demolition, the first stage in the city’s renewal, we have already done. Now we just need to build.”
US President Donald Trump had pitched a similar plan to turn Gaza into the "Riviera of the Middle East” when he first took up his post. However, his plan faced staunch opposition and criticism.
Last month, the Washington Post reported that the Trump administration was weighing a proposal that would put Gaza under US control for a decade and pay roughly a quarter of its population to relocate.
