A recent report by The Wall Street Journal reveals new details about the ‘Israeli’ strike that targeted Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar.

According to the newspaper, which cites senior US officials briefed on the operation, the strike utilized air-launched ballistic missiles fired from over the Red Sea.

The operation, which involved eight F-15s and four F-35s, was designed to be carried out swiftly so the Trump administration would have less time to object.

A senior American defense official is quoted as describing the operation as "absolutely unimaginable," and noting that "notice was given so close to actual launching of missiles that there was no way to reverse or halt the order".

The US was reportedly able to determine the missiles' target was the Qatari capital using "space-based sensors that detected the missiles' heat signatures".

The strike, which took place as Hamas leaders were meeting to discuss a US-backed ceasefire proposal, has sparked international condemnation.

The Qatari Prime Minister called the attack an act of "state terror", while a UN Security Council press statement, supported by the United States, condemned the strikes and expressed solidarity with Qatar.
