Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday condemned the ‘Israeli’ airstrikes targeting Syria’s Homs and Latakia provinces, describing the attacks as a dangerous escalation, a blatant violation of Syrian sovereignty, and a flagrant breach of international law.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Sufian Qudah said the repeated assaults must stop immediately, stressing that they constitute a clear violation of the UN Charter and of ‘Israel’s’ obligations under the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.

He added that the strikes directly undermine Syria’s security and stability.

Qudah reaffirmed Jordan’s firm position and full solidarity with Syria in safeguarding its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and people.

Destabilizing Syria and its security will threaten the wider region, he highlighted

Since the fall of former President Bashar al-Assad in December, ‘Israel’ has carried out hundreds of strikes on Syrian military sites and expanded its Golan Heights occupation into a buffer zone, breaching a 1974 accord.

The spokesperson urged the international community to act decisively to stop ‘Israel’s’ ongoing attacks on Syria, and put an end to its violation of international law.
