Spain pushed back Monday against what it described as “false and slanderous accusations of antisemitism” from 'Israel', after Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced nine new measures aimed at halting what he called “the genocide in Gaza.”

Madrid’s foreign ministry condemned 'Israel’s' move to bar two senior Spanish officials from entering the country, insisting Spain “would not be intimidated in its defence of peace, international law and human rights.”

The diplomatic spat escalated after 'Israeli' Foreign Minister Gideon Saar accused Sanchez’s government of using criticism of 'Israel’s' war as cover for domestic scandals. “The attempt by Sanchez's corrupt administration to divert attention from serious corruption scandals through a continuous anti-Israel and antisemitic campaign is transparent,” Saar wrote on X.

Saar also declared that Deputy Prime Minister Yolanda Diaz and Youth Minister Sira Rego, both members of the far-left Sumar alliance that backs Sanchez’s coalition, would not be allowed into 'Israel'. Rego, who has Palestinian heritage on her father’s side and spent part of her childhood in the occupied West Bank, has been a vocal critic of 'Israel’s' war.

Among the measures unveiled by Sanchez were an arms embargo on 'Israel' and a ban preventing vessels carrying fuel for the 'Israeli' military from docking at Spanish ports.

Spain has become one of the strongest critics of 'Israel’s' military campaign in Gaza within the European Union.
